Why CUISO?

CUISO was created out of an identified need to advocate for and protect the interests of independent student levy organizations from the overreach and internal politics of universities, student unions, and governments.

CUISO is a means for progressive mobilization and organizing around the issues that matter to CUISO members.

Our planned services include

• Advocacy (with government, universities and student unions)

  • Policy papers

  • Increasing public awareness of the beneficial roles played by ISOs.

• Organizing Mutual Education between members and mission-aligned organizations

  • Training and workshops related to operating an organization in a post-secondary environment

  • Annual virtual forum and conference

• Technical assistance services which we could offer

  • Finance Consulting (fee for service)

  • *Legal Consulting (fee for service)

  • Levy Referendum Consulting

  • Staff and Volunteer Management consulting

  • University Relations Consulting

*Because the legal environment changes between regions, this may impact our ability to provide support in this area to everyone equally

Because CUISO is organized as a co-operative, the services and advocacy agenda will be determined democratically by member organizations.
